The world’s most unique mud volcanoes are located in Azerbaijan. More than 300 of 700 mud volcanoes are on the territory of the country. Primarily they are located on the Absheron Peninsula and their amount is about 45% of all volcanoes that are located in the country. It is claimed that the volcanoes appeared on the territory of Azerbaijan 25 million years ago and by origin are associated with oil and gas fields. In 2009 mud volcanoes claimed to be one of the wonders of the world in choosing the Seven Wonders of the World.
I would definitely recommend visiting Gobustan National Park to see this natural phenomenon!
